Master Mariner
The Master is Secunda's representative aboard the vessel and reports to the Vice President (Superintendent), Vessel Operations. He/she is responsible for the vessel, crew and operations in meeting charterer requirements. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, the Master is responsible for the budget, security, and seaworthiness of the vessel. Working closely with the Chief Officer and Bridge Management Team, the Master is responsible for the safe and efficient navigation of the ship. A Master Mariners Certification plus a minimum of three years of Offshore Vessel experience including anchor handling, towing and ice management is required.
Chief Officer
The Chief Officer is the Master's delegate and second in command of the vessel. The Chief Officer will assist the Master in all shipboard duties. The Chief Officer must make themselves familiar with those aspects of the ship's affairs, which are the concern of the Master so as to be prepared for the assumption of command, if necessary. A Chief Officer Certification plus a minimum of three years of Offshore Vessel experience including anchor handling, towing and ice management is required. As Secunda's Ship Security Officer, he/she is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the ship security plan and liaison with the Company Security and Port Security Officers.
Second Officer
The Second Officer is directly responsible to the Master for navigational and bridge watch keeping duties and for any special tasks assigned by the Master. The Second Officer is directly responsible to the Chief Officer for general deck department duties. The Second Officer assists the Chief Officer as needed with inspections and maintenance of the safety equipment. The Second Officer makes safety a priority and under guidance from the Chief Officer, rectifies any known deficiencies immediately. The Second Officer is also the vessel Safety Officer. A Watchkeeping Mate Unlimited Certification is required.
Able Seafarer
The Able Seafarer is responsible for the safe and efficient care and maintenance of the vessel and cargo, including forming part of the navigational watch, operating and maintaining deck equipment and performing other deck and bridge duties under the direction of deck officers. A Bridge Watch Rating or Able Seaman Certificate is required.
