Our Commitment to Safety: How We Verify Jobs
At JobInShip.com, the trust and safety of our seafarer community are our highest priorities. We understand the importance of connecting with legitimate and reputable employers. That is why we have established a verification process to ensure the quality and authenticity of the job vacancies listed on our platform.
While no system is perfect, we take the following steps to create a more secure job-seeking environment for you.
Our Verification Process
We manually review submissions from recruiting companies based on the following key criteria:
1. Company Information Review Before a job is even considered, we look at the company providing it. We check for signs of a legitimate, established business, including a professional website, valid contact details, and a clear company profile.
2. RPSL and Official License Check This is a critical step in our process.
- For Indian Companies: We make a conscious effort to verify that the recruiting agency holds a valid Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers License (RPSL) issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, India.
- For International Companies: We check for proof of legitimacy in their country of operation, such as compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and registration with their respective national maritime authorities.
3. Job Vacancy Scrutiny We review the details of the job posting itself. We look for red flags such as:
- Requests for any kind of payment from the seafarer (our terms prohibit this).
- Vague or unprofessional job descriptions.
- Unrealistic salary promises.
- A lack of clear requirements for the role.
4. Ongoing Community Feedback We listen to you. If a seafarer reports a suspicious job posting or a negative experience with a listed company, we take it seriously. We investigate these reports and will not hesitate to remove companies that violate our trust guidelines.
A Note for Our Job Seekers: Your Role in Staying Safe
Our verification process is a powerful first line of defense, but the final responsibility for your safety always rests with you. We strongly encourage you to perform your own due diligence before accepting any offer.
- Always Verify: Independently check the RPSL status of any Indian agent.
- Never Pay: Never pay a fee to any company for a job placement. This is a major red flag.
- Trust Your Instincts: If an offer seems too good to be true, or if you feel pressured, proceed with caution.
Our mission is to build a job portal you can rely on. By working together, we can make the maritime job market safer and more transparent for everyone.
